Literature Text

I almost cried at seeing her alone, most likely an orphan, "Yes young Marceline, I will help you find her." I raised my head up to look around the area closest to us. I could not see anything, but wreckage. The sun was beginning to set as well. I let out a sigh of sadness and sorrow for the girl, "We must continue tomorrow for now we must set up camp, get some rest." The little girl looked like she was about to burst into tears, "I promise as soon as it's safe we'll find your mom." I looked down at the girl hopping to cheer her up, so I gave her a big warm smile. It did the trick since she smiled big and bright back at me. I held out my hand to her offering it to help her walk, "Simon can I ride on your back?" I bet I smiled real big and looked really funny, considering she started giggling. "Of course you can Marceline." I had no fear that she might knock off that stupid crown since it was attached to my belt waving loosely with every step I would take. "I hope my mommy is okay." I had to hold in my tears when she had said this it was almost too much. It must be so confusing in this world for a little girl. She looked down at me gently running her hand through my hair. "Hm. Why are you blue Simon?" I had to tell her something less frightening than the truth. "I guess I am a man of the snow and ice." Before I could go on she cut me off asking, "Can I be one of the snow people?!" I felt my crown give off massive amounts of energy pushing me out of control of my body. When I came back in control she was cowering from me afraid. I fell to my knees trying to say, I'm sorry, forgive me, it wasn't me it was this crown, but nothing came out of my mouth. We just sat there neither one of us moving. She eventually made the first move, but instead of away from me she moved towards me. She came up and hugged me around my chest. I sat there unable to move or say anything until I just gently wrapped my arms around her small frame. Eventually she got seated on my shoulders again and we got moving before the sun set and those things come out. She decided we should stay in a stable looking restaurant or what I thought was a restaurant. I did just as I had when I was alone. I rolled out a sleeping bag, pulled out a blanket, tossing the blanket over the sleeping bag. "Marceline you will sleep here where its warm and safe." She looked over at me with a worried look, "Where will you sleep Simon?" I looked around till I saw an old booth seat the table gone, "I'll sleep there." I was gesturing at the booth, but I guess she didn't see my movement considering her next statement, "That doesn't look comfy Simon, why don't we share the bed?" He shook his head knowing it was wrong, he was this girl's father just some random old man, but she started crying," Don't cry Marceline. Fine we will share the bed." He got up from his seat on some stone rubble and move around gathering some wood. With the scavenged wood I was able to start a fire, "Marceline, how about I tuck you in and tell you a story?" She nodded her head in the affirmative. "My mom used to do that for me too, sing a lullaby too, could you sing a lullaby after the story?" I thought to myself for a moment wondering what kind of lullabies I know. "Alright Marceline."
